Years ago I found an old Denis Wick mouthpiece among a selection of second hand mouthpieces in a music shop...I think It was an 11X.. it was a very shallow but wide bowl and a very thick rim ...very uncharacteristic for a Denis Wick and thats what struck me about it...It was a jazz trumpet mouthpiec...

Friday night the comittee of the band approached me and said i was to be given the soprano seat. putting it into perspective

I have read the rest of this thread having already replied once but I notice a lot of , what I call "credit card " advice IE... speculation about what type of cornet you have and what you should spend money on to make you better.... well.. its down to making something of what you have..if ...

Re: I Can Relate

I have been playing sop for about 2 months. I have been struggling with producing a warm sound (cornet sound). I am a trumpet player in Canada and everything I play on the Sop sounds "trumpety". Having been a cornet player as long as you have... do you have any advice on how to warm up my...

"cheating" in tenor clef

I have started learning trombone (I used to play sop but cant anymore because of dental work ) I have noticed that alot of old trombone copies especially marches are written in tenor clef and I only read treble.. That is the first thing you have to ask yourself Do I really like soprano and do I want to be a sop player? Bear in mind that being a sop player is NOT just like being a Bflat cornetist only higher..It is ...
