Help with Notes below Bottom g

Post by ACTESTEVE »

Hi
Sorry for such a basic question, but I have only been playing since christmas 04 after a break of about 20 odd years. I play BBb Bass (4 valve) in treble clef - but I can't find out the fingerings for notes below bottom G. So the new piece of music we are playing has lot's of F's which I miss out because I don't know the fingering. I tried it with the first valve which seemed logical, but that didnt seem to work! I think our MD may suss me out soon so any help would be gratefully appreciated!

OK here goes.

Low G, 4th.
F# 2 & 4
F 1 & 4
E 1,2 & 4
E flat 2, 3 & 4
D 1, 3 & 4
D flat, 1,2,3 & 4
pedal C open.

Above G it's sometime useful to play bottom C on 1 & 4.

basically whatever low note you want to play (to an extent) you play the fingering as you would for that note but add your fourth valve!
gee, that was a boring hymn, lets play another
