Whats the reason for transposition?

Whats the reason for transposition?

I was just curious why treble clef music in transposed in brass band music. If anyone has any clues or answers let me know.

hi,

its so you can play any valved instrument with the notes and valve combinations being the same otherwise - a concert Bb would be a cornets C and a tenor horns G etc.

clarinets are in Bb pitch too and alto sax read a c and instrument plays concert pitch Eb

I don't see why brass bands should be different from other medium. For example clarinet parts in an orchestra or wind band are tranposing.
