Can anyone help me with the name of the jaunty 6/8 march which introduced Sports Report on the Light Programme (I think) in the 40s and 50s. The programme was on at about 5 or 5.30 on a Saturday evening. I'd be most grateful.

Thanks a million for that information. I have been asking Brass Band friends the same question for a week or so. They could all hum the tune, tell me when it was on (which I already knew) but had no idea about the name or the composer. The reason I wanted to know is a long drawn-out story but it's more than just idle interest.
