4-valved horn

Post by njh »

Finally someone has produced a 4-valved horn to overcome the intonation problems
they have in the lower register, see http://www.kanstul.net/pages/instrument ... t1540m.htm

I tried one of these in the US last week where the 1st horn player of a band I
was conducting had one. Seems fine, except that the 4th valve is in the wrong place - it
should be placed with the left hand in mind a la Besson design. But at least one is
now available; let's hope it sets a trend that other manufacturers follow.
