Tomorrow...

Post by njh »

Wish me luck!

Tomorrow (Thu) I am due to fly to the U.S. to conduct a series of concerts in and around the Washington DC area helping to promote the movement over there. As I'm sure you can guess I have been watching the skies and news eagerly.

At any given time I can usually see 5 or 6 vapour trails in the sky. I've been looking up today after hearing the good news, but apart from the odd one or two I see nothing. Well I'm booked now, so fingers crossed...

Well, my jet lag is over and despite all the woes caused by the volcano and British Airways cancelling the first leg of my journey, I made it in time to conduct the Rockville Brass Band of Maryland last Sunday. The delay meant that I had to conduct them without a rehearsal.

I'm pleased to say, though, that all went without a hitch. You can hear some of the results with a recording of The Great Gate of Kiev taken from the concert at http://www.bandsman.co.uk/sounds/kiev3.mp3.

The next stages of my tour are a rehearsal with the Rockville Band this evening followed by another concert with them on Sunday afternoon and a rehearsal with the Benfield Brass Band (near Annapolis) on Sunday evening.
